Esther Jan is a Taiwanese-American, Los Angeles-based illustrator from Taipei, Taiwan.
She studied Architecture design at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. She holds a Master of Information Management and Systems (MIMS) focused on User Experience Design from the University of California, Berkeley.
Her creativity draws from the mundane things in our daily life. Silly characters sitting in the corner, a happy family having dinner, friends randomly running into each other... Esther manages to use her illustrations to record the precious tiny moments that may easily slip away from our memory.
In 2020, her interactive art Here/There was showcased as part of the group exhibition at Gray Area SF during the 2020 SF Design Week. This project led to an art residency in Taichung, Taiwan, where the concept grew into an extensive series called the Potential Memories. View the demo videos of these interactive works here.
